Shared struggle

I went to see the latest "Barbie" movie (2023).

âš  SPOILERS AHEAD âš

At the end of the movie, the main character (stereotypical Barbie) looks back on her perfect life. She doesn't want to be back to it. She doesn't want to be perfect anymore. She wants to be something else, yet she doesn't know what. It's a tough turning point for her, and she's lost. She asks her creator but the creator just says that she has her own will and that she doesn't control her.
Ken also has a similar struggle when they tell him that he can exist without Barbie. He's confused about what to do, what to become.

This resonated with me, as a young adult that try to do everything that was expected from her. Be reasonable, have good grades, stick to a good job. But now that I have it, what should I do? What should I become? And more importantly, who I am?

The movie didn't give a clear answer to those questions, but seeing this struggle on screen resonated with me, and I think with many folks my age (and maybe more).

The beautiful end song commissioned to Billie Eilish really sums up this shared struggle.

It was a nice movie, I enjoyed it. The cast was great (Margot Robbie was simply perfect), the clothes gorgeous and the music genuinely good. The plot was simple, yet efficient and the movie was totally not serious about it. It seemed that everyone had a lot of fun.
